Miss Helen Seasholtz was in Millstone, a small borough on the Millstone River of Somerset County in central New Jersey.
Originally known as “Somerset Courthouse”, the community witnessed significant military activity during the American Revolution.
Today, a large Historic District preserves a remarkable number of buildings in the borough.

Miss Seasholtz was living in the home of Mrs. J. Wyckoff; we don’t know if Helen was boarding there, was a relative of Mrs. Wyckoff, or was employed within the household.
In March of 1910, Helen received an Easter postcard from her friend, Emma..
Emma mailed the postcard from a post office in Pennsylvania – I cannot discern the place from the few indistinct characters in the postmark.
The face of the postcard displays a lovely medallion painting of crowded forest growth at the edge of a watery expanse.
The scene is bordered by large blossoms.
A printed legend proclaims, “A Joyful Easter”.
On the reverse, the sender acknowledges a recent postcard from Helen.
Emma tells Helen, “I was glad to hear from you.”
In other news, “J.P. is well – I see him quite often, Ha! Ha!”
I suspect that J. P. may be a beau of Emma’s,
Emma is “just getting over another bad cold…”
One hopes that Emma and Helen, along with Mrs. Wyckoff and J. P. enjoyed a wonderful Easter.
The postcard was preserved in very good condition throughout the lifetime of Helen.
