April Fools

April Fools – 1910

This novelty postcard was printed in the United States, the image was copyrighted in 1909.

Mailed from Harrisburg on March 31, 1910, the postcard was addressed to Roslyn, Pa (Montgomery County).

The face of the postcard bears an illustration of solid citizens, each of whom appears foolish to others.

A verse from the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, explains the illustration:

” O wad some power the giftie give us

To see ourselves as others see us”

Each of us may appear foolish to others.

On the first of April, we can decide if that is a crushing or a liberating thought.

For myself, I embrace Folly.
