“Collecting Eggs for Easter” – circa 1910

This delightful postcard was not mailed, so there is no personal story attached to it.

Here, we see a fashionably-attired young lady standing among chickens and chicks on the edge of a lush garden.

Our heroine is wearing a long brown skirt, high-collared shirtwaist, and a fitted jacket.

One must admire her rose-bedecked hat with long feathered plumes.

On her arm, she carries a small basket of eggs and, in her hands, she holds a downy chick.

The young lady holds the chick to her face in a gesture touched with affection and curiosity.

Above the garden is a gilt inscription:

“Bright and happy Easter for you”

The postcard has an American publisher, but it is not clear if the printing was done in the US.

Because the postcard was preserved in very good condition, I suspect that it had been placed in an album or some other protective covering.

Perhaps the collector intended to mail the postcard for a future Easter celebration.
