Courtship of Shepherds

Courtship of Shepherds – Art Postcards to Blanche Copeland – 1907

Several months ago, I posted an example of postcard art – original works (many signed by artists) commissioned by postcard companies for the international market.

I noted that these works, printed largely in Germany, (some from Saxony, Holland, and Great Britain) were often superior in quality.

The example was an Alpine scene of a tender parting, and it had been mailed to Blanche Copeland of Columbia.

Now, I discovered a second art card, also involving a romantic mountain scene and also posted to Miss Copeland.

The two scenes may be part of a series describing an entire courtship or romantic adventure at high altitudes.

Blanche may have collected art postcards or had friends and correspondents with good taste.
