In the summer of 1915, Cora and Ed were enjoying St. Moritz, the fashionable resort in the Swiss Alps.
The wide, glaciated valley, slopes, and lake at St. Moritz were the site of winter Olympic Games in 1928 and 1948.
Although named for a Christian Saint from the 3rd century, and the home to a pilgrimage shrine throughout the Middle Ages, St. Moritz gained fame as a year-round resort for prosperous tourists in the mid-19th century.
Today, St. Moritz is one of the most popular sports training sites in the world, the host to many sporting competitions, and a playground for the rich and famous.

For Ed and Cora, St. Moritz was intended to be a place of healing.
During their stay, Ed sent a postcard to Mr. and Mrs. E. Steinhauser in St. Louis.
The Steinhausers are greeted as “Ernst and Nellie”.
The greeting was addressed in care of Mrs. F. Diederich – so the Steinhausers may have been visiting St. Louis.
St. Louis had become a popular travel destination following the Louisiana Purchase Centennial Exposition in Saint Louis in 1904.

The face of the postcard is a lovely drawing of the Carlton Hotel overlooking the lake and mountain valley in St. Moritz.

This area if Switzerland enjoys about 300 days of sunny weather per year, and the valley is shown in bright sunlight.
In the foreground, a young couple exchanges greetings – the young lady holding flowers, the young man carrying a bag of clubs.
The postcard was printed by the Art Institute of Orrel Fussli in Zurich.
(The Orrel Fussli Corporation, the oldest in Switzerland, was founded in 1519 as a book printer and publisher.)

On the reverse, Ed shares the welcome news that “we are having a nice time now.”
The place is beautiful, and Ed “is feeling fine” and “getting a little stronger every day.”
“Cora is fine.”
The message was sent with “Lots of Love”, but there is no indication of when the visit to St. Moritz might end.
One hopes that Ed continued to improve, and that he ad Cora returned safely to their home.
