Entering Chester on the Boston & Albany RR

Those of us who love to travel by train are often overcome by a deep longing to experience the days in which all major towns and cities of this nation were connected by regular rail service.

Damn Henry Ford.

The Boston and Albany Railroad was one of hundreds of train companies that provided regional train service.

Chester is a town in the northern and eastern reaches of Warren County, New York; not far from the border of Vermont to the east. Today, it lies within the metro statistical region of Glens Falls.

The town is within the Adirondack Park. Readers of postcard stories may recall that this is the largest state park in the United States, protecting an area the size of the neighboring state of Vermont.

In 1910, the B & A Railroad stopped here, and here is a picture of the entrance to the town circa 1910.
