Huldah was beginning a new school year in Sparta, a village about ten miles north of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
She wrote to her friend, Elsie, who was married to Claude Condon and living in Lowell, Michigan.
Lowell is a small city on the Grand River, 15 miles east of Grand Rapids.
(We met the Condons in an earlier postcard story when they received a birth announcement.)
Huldah has 23 students in her class, and she reports, “they certainly keep me busy”.
The face of the postcard bears a drawing of a child running from a swarm of wasps.
The legend asserts, “I’m Awfully Busy”.
On the reverse, Huldah inquires about Floyd, who seems to be Elsie’s young child.
In closing, Huldah notes that “Eva was here Sun.”
One hopes the new mother and the busy schoolteacher remained friends and correspondents for many years.
