Miss Dora Wyckoff lived in Hightstown, an historic borough which was the commercial and cultural center of the Raritan Valley in central New Jersey.
Today, Hightstown is an outer suburb of the New York Metropolitan Area.

In August of 1912, Dora received a romantic postcard from someone whose name or initials are difficult to decipher.
The postcard was mailed from Manasquan, a small borough on the Atlantic shore of Monmouth County in east-central New Jersey.
Hightstown is about 30 miles northwest of Manasquan.

We have seen recently another romantic scene sent to Miss Wyckoff, which includes a genealogical summary of her life:
The face of the postcard is a drawing of a young man, wearing a white shirt and tie, leaning back on a rustic bench.
Our hero is embraced by a smiling young woman who stand behind him, clasping his shoulders.
The scene is silhouetted against a blank background and enclosed by a red border.
Beneath the drawing is a printed legend:
“I could hug you here”.
The legend suggests that spontaneous displays of affection might be inhibited by a sense of propriety or decorum -perhaps the nearness of other persons or a fear of appearing too “forward”.
The young man leans comfortably against the girl, and the couple exudes a sense of contentment.
We do not know if the romantic situation had any special relevance to Miss Wyckhoff.
Dora preserved the postcard throughout her life.
One hopes that she and her unidentified correspondent enjoyed successful romantic attachments.
