Ina Sends a Gilded Birthday Card to Glen Rock

Ina Sends a Gilded Birthday Card to Glen Rock – 1907

On April 30, 1907., Ina mailed a gilded Birthday postcard to Master Stacy McCubbins of Glen Rock.

The postcard, sent in care of Samuel Coker, was mailed from Glen Rock.

We don’t know why the young Stacy was living with Mr. Coker.

(Added Note: amateur genealogist, Carolyn Sands, discovered that Samuel Coker was Stacy’s step-father.)

The card is a fancy depiction of a young man in traditional German or Tyrollean garb, leder-hosen and knit stockings.

I have not been able to find much information about Stacy McCubbin, except that he raised a family in Glen Rock (the obituary of his son is easily accessible on the web).

Nevertheless, he was loved by Ina who sent a beautiful birthday postcard.

A reader submitted additional information from an Ancestry website.

In the 1910 Federal Census, master Stacy E. McCubbins age 10, is a step son to Samuel E Coker, age 39.

His mothers name is Annie M.

Stacy was born 20 Apr 1899. Family lived at 168 Hanover St, Glen Rock, York, Pa.

Stacy went on to marry Estella and have several children. He is listed as a machinist.

The sender may be Ida Virginia Bollinger, schoolmate, who was born in Roller, Md in same year as Stacy.

She lived on Junior St. In Glen Rock, daughter of John Oliver Bollinger and Ella.
