Miss Louisa C. Hart lived in Harbourton, an historic community in west-central New Jersey.
(The entire community was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.)

In February of 1907, Louisa received a postcard from Trenton, NJ.
The face of the postcard bears an hand-colored photograph of lilacs blooming by a gate.
The postcard was published by the American News Company of Berlin, New York, and Dresden; it is safe to assume that the printing was done in Germany.
There is no indication of the sender or of the occasion for the postcard.
It is a lovely scene for a mid-winter day, and one hopes that Louisa was pleased by it.
