Mrs. S. J. Angleberger lived in Lewistown, a census-designated place about 10 miles north of Frederick, Maryland.

In October of 1920, Mrs. Angleberger received a birthday postcard from her daughter, Thelma.
Thelma mailed the postcard from Frederick, the historic city on the first national turnpike, in north-central Maryland.

The face of the postcard has a small medallion drawing of a rural road, the frame is adorned with colorful leaves.
Beneath the drawing is a verse, “Birthday Greeting to Mother”:
“To me, this day is sacred,
For on this day there came,
To earth a loving angel,
And Mother is her name”
On the reverse, Thelma writes in a very legible hand:
“Dear Mother.
Wish you many more happy birthdays
Thelma”
Mrs. Angleberger preserved the postcard in very good condition throughout her life.
One hopes that she enjoyed a splendid birthday and experienced many years of affectionate correspondence with her daughter.
