Mr. W.G. Marks lived in Lafayette, a city on the Wabash River in west-central Indiana. Lafayette is about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
West Lafayette, across the Wabash, is the home of Purdue University.
On December 31, 1921, Mr. Marks received a postcard greeting from his mother, Sadie Marks.
A blurred postmark makes it difficult to identify the location of mother’s home.
Made in the USA, the postcard bears an illustration of poppies and a birthday blessing in verse.
For the birthday celebrant, the blessings of “Peace of mind and strength of soul” are invoked.
It appears that Mr. Marks is still a young man as the verse includes a hope of “health of body pulsing through / The happy, youthful heart of you”.
On-line, I can find references to several persons named “W.G.Marks”, but none of these are linked to Lafayette, Indiana or otherwise indicate “our” Mr. Marks.
One hopes that the happy youthful heart of Mr. Marks was pleased by the remembrance by his mother and that he enjoyed a prosperous 1922.
