Mrs. Nellie Mattox lived in Sharon, a city on the Ohio border, in northwest Pennsylvania.
Although coal-mining was the first industry in the area, Sharon became a center of iron manufacturing (later, steel manufacturing).
The Shenango River flows through the city.
In October of 1911, Nellie received a postcard from a friend.
The postcard bears a boldly-colored landscape of hills and trees.
The illustration is entitled, “Resting”.
Unfortunately, I cannot decipher the postmark of the town from which the postcard was mailed.
Nellie’s friend reports that she is well, and expresses a hope that Mrs. Maddox is the same.
On this beautiful Sunday in Spring, one hopes that weary souls are resting.
