In October of 1907, Elizabeth Gallatin of Annville, PA was celebrating a birthday.
Elizabeth received a postcard greeting from Esther F., also of Annville.
Annville is a township in Lebanon County, the home of Lebanon Valley College in south central Pennsylvania.
I believe that Elizabeth (and perhaps, Esther) was a student at the College (Lebanon Valley College was established as a coeducational institution in 1866 by the United Brethren in Christ denomination.)
Through church mergers, LVC today has an affiliation with the United Methodist Church.
The birthday postcard features a colorful drawing of a girl holding a pot of flowers.
Deeply embossed, the postcard was printed in Europe (although neither a printer nor publisher is identified.)
Although the postcard is addressed to “Elizabeth Galletin”, I am fairly confident that the recipient was Elizabeth Gallatin whose name is found in an on-line group photograph (privately owned) from the Quittapahilla – the yearbook of Lebanon Valley College.
One hopes that Elizabeth enjoyed the birthday greeting and that she succeeded in her college studies.
