This postcard was not mailed, but I am sharing it because it reflects so well the popular enthusiasm for aircraft of all kinds in the early years of the twentieth century.
On the face, a biplane bedecked with flowers soars on a black background.

The greeting, “Happy Birthday” is inscribed in gilt letters.
Above the plane, a dove is hovering – a letter in her bill.
This is appropriate when we remember how strongly the nascent field of aeronautics was supported by the US Postal Service.

On the reverse, a name is written faintly in pencil.
I believe the name is “Charles Laplant”.
It is always more interesting to find locations, identified correspondents, and postmarked dates -but the unique image on the face is worthy of our consideration.
One hopes that Charles enjoyed the postcard and had a wonderful birthday.
