The Railroad Station in Gettysburg – circa 1910

My laments about the tragic decline of railroad networks may be tiresome to readers.

But, here is a hand-tinted photograph of the train depot in Gettysburg; the last passenger train from this station departed in December of 1942.

The postcard, printed circa 1910, was not mailed.

Fortunately, a private foundation within the town of Gettysburg rescued and renovated this structure after it fell into decay.

A railroad museum now occupies the first floor, and a memorial to Abraham Lincoln commemorates his journey to this station in 1863.
