Welcome 1908 – Hanover, PA

In December of 1907, Miss Elsie Martin lived outside of Hanover, PA (Rural Free Delivery Route #4).

Hanover is a prosperous town in York County, southwest of the city of York.

It was the center of a large shoe-making industry at the time Elsie received her New Year greeting, but snack food companies (pretzels and potato chips) are now leading industries.

The postcard, printed in Germany, was mailed from Hanover by Lena C.

The face of the postcard is illustrated with a flower-adorned image of “1908”, surrounded by four-leaved clover for good luck and a large anchor for hope.

One hopes that Elsie and Lena enjoyed the year 1908.
