Mr. Frank Dudley lived in West Poland, an unincorporated village in Androscoggin County of southern Maine.

Sometime around 1905, Frank was given a postcard by an unnamed friend.
The face of the postcard bears the drawing of a large, red lobster.
Above the lobster are printed the words, “You Are A”.
I don’t know if being called a lobster was a taunt peculiar to Maine.
The postcard was not mailed, suggesting that the sender may have presented it in person.
The one-cent stamp was not cancelled; it could be used today (with a lot more postage).
I hope that Frank found that being categorized as a lobster was not an unpleasant state and that he enjoyed the postcard.
