“You Should Come to Meet Me” – Bismarck, North Dakota (1911)

We met Annie Robidou in an earlier postcard which bore the illustration of a maiden carried piggyback at the lake.

I mentioned that I had several additional postcards, all featuring scenes of romance, collected or inspired by Miss Robidou.

In June of 1911, Catherine sent a postcard to her “Dear Chum”, Annie.

The face of the postcard bears an illustration of a well-dressed couple conducting a rendezvous-vous beneath a leafy tree.

The legend reads, “You should come to meet me more often”.

Addressed to our heroine in Bismarck, North Dakota, the postcard was mailed from the same city.

Catherine seems to live nearby, although not in the center of the city.

On the reverse, Catherine acknowledges receipt of a recent letter and promises to send one of her own on Friday.

Summer must have come early to the Plains as Catherine writes, “this day has been so long and hot”.

Nevertheless, Catherine and Edith are “just going downtown”.

One hopes that Catherine, Edith, and Annie enjoyed the summer of 1911 and remained friends for many years.
