Mr. L. P. Whitaker lived in Chicago.
In June of 1908, Mr. Whitaker received a comic postcard from an unidentified correspondent in Detroit, Michigan.
The postcard was printed in Germany; it was #1 in the publisher’s “Kissing Series”.
We may assume that the sender was known to Mr. Whitaker.
The face of the postcard is an amusing drawing of a young woman paying affectionate attention to her small dog.
Behind her, a suitor fumes that the woman’s devotion is paid solely to the pet.
This smartly-dressed couple is at a romantic impasse, but it is not a tragic scene.
Perhaps the young man needs to become more entertaining or interesting!
