We met Hampton Pullis in an earlier postcard story; he had received a postcard greeting from his Uncle John.
In January of 1911 Hampton was in Sparta, the colonial settlement of northern New Jersey where mining of copper, limestone, and zinc had been essayed at times over a hundred years.

For the celebration of the New Year, Hampton received a postcard greeting from his Uncle Theodor and Anna.
(It is unclear if “Anna” is Hampton’s Aunt, cousin, or some unrelated member of the household.)
These relatives lived nearby, in Newton, N.J.

The postcard bore an embossed drawing of a Cupid sitting atop a roller skate.
The background is silver gilt in a wavy pattern.
A printed legend proclaims, “A Happy New Year”.
On the reverse, a brief message (in a neat hand) wishes Hampton a happy new year and names the senders.
The postcard, like many others sent to Mr. Pullis, was preserved in good condition for more than a century.
One hopes that Hampton enjoyed the year, 1911.
