Mrs. D. C. Chapman lived in Ventura, the beautiful coastal city in Southern California.

In September of 1932, Mrs. Chapman received a postcard from one of her children.
(I cannot decipher the name at the end of the message – probably, a daughter.)
The postcard was mailed from Toledo, the bustling city at the western end of Lake Erie, in northwest Ohio.

The face of the postcard bears a soothing picture of a rural lane; superimposed on the scene is a printed message:
“Greetings from the best town on the map
Where life is worth living-
The place where YOU ought to be”
On the reverse, we learn that this offspring of Mrs. Chapman had just returned from a visit to Kentucky.
The purpose of the visit was “to see them all”.
The travelers had some success as they report having seen Susie, Lettie, and Elmer – all of whom are well.
The message ends with a promise to “write a long letter soon” and a bit of alarming news that “Bill isn’t feeling good at all.”
One hopes that Mrs. Chapman was delighted by the postcard and that she received a newsy letter in the near future.
