Buffalo Herd in the Northwest – Spokane, Washington (circa 1920)

One is accustomed to seeing images of buffalo (or bison) across the Great Plains of the United States; we may forget how widely these large grazing animals ranged.

In my early adulthood, I was surprised to learn that there were Buffalo herds in colonial Pennsylvania and in upstate New York.

Now, I am surprised to see an hand-colored photograph of buffalo in the Pacific Northwest.

This postcard was published by John W. Graham and Company of Spokane, Washington.

It was printed circa 1920.

Not mailed, the postcard does not reveal what person was taken by the image of the Buffalo herd.
