Ada Diehm lived in Lititz, the hsitoric and handsome community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

I have posted other correspondence with Ada Diehm (and with Charles Diehm, who is Ada’s son).
This is an unusual postcard in that it was printed before 1906 and mailed in 1908.
It is also an early example of an American postcard for Christmas.
The penny postcard grew in popularity very dramatically through the early years of the 20th century, but it can be hard to find examples of Christmas postcards before 1906.
On the face of the postcard, we find a heavily-embossed illustration of birds atop a fence, surrounded by holly.
The lack of fine work and of more elaborate coloration would suggest that the work is not European; and the reverse of the postcard bears a large American eagle.
Postcards printed abroad were required to note the country of origin.
The postcard was sent by Lizzie S. W., also of Lititz, on December 8, 1908.
One hopes that Ada and Lizzie enjoyed their Christmas of 112 years ago.
Genealogical Note:
Ada B. Murr was born in 1881.
She married William W. Diehm about 1899 – I cannot find the marriage record.
Ada and Wulliam had a son, Aaron, in 1901.
Alas, Aaron died within a year.
Ada gave birth to her second son, Charles, in 1902.
Ada and William were divorced by 1920, and Ada later married Henry Habecker Keath.
Ada died in 1957 and is buried in Lititz.
