“Claire Louise” Was Born on Saturday – August 12, 1922

Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Files (amended, “Filer”) were thrilled by the birth of their 8-pound daughter.

The happy parents prepared birth announcements to share the joyful news with friends and acquaintances.

The postcard announcement, printed in the US, features a smiling child crawling across the face.

The new baby girl, named “Claire Louise”, was born on a Saturday morning.

The weather, the parents write, was cold.

In a quick on-line search, I can find several persons named “Charles W. Files”, but none of these persons are known to have a daughter or are likely to have been new parents in 1922.

Nonetheless, we hope that little Claire Louise was happy and successful in her life.

Note: A reader suggested that the name of the family is “Filer”, and I quickly found Claire Louise Filer using that name.

The baby was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania “around 1923” in the census record.

Her father, Charles was 21 years old; her mother, Clara, was 20.

Clair Louise married a Mr. Raines.

Unfortunately, Claire Louise Filer Raines died in 1947 at the age of 25.

Her father lived until 1971 and her mother until 1986.
