Elizabeth Receives a Rose from her Mother – circa 1910
Sometime around 1910, Elizabeth Karr was living in Mount Nebo, Pa.
Mt. Nebo is a small “populated place” on Martic Heights Drive in southern Lancaster County.
On her birthday, Elizabeth received a postcard which was adorned with a drawing of a large red rose.
The postcard, printed in Europe, was presented by her mother.
Because the postcard was not mailed; we assume that Elizabeth was given the card in person.
(I have found postcards, however, in which the writer says, “I am giving this to the milkman/neighbor/storekeeper to give to you”.)
One hopes that Elizabeth enjoyed her birthday in the early years of the twentieth century.
