George Glick Misses Sunday School – 1915

In September of 1915, George Glick was living at 528 North Queen Street in Lancaster.

George received a postcard from his Sunday School teacher, C.J. Hilton (Wilton?), noting that George had been absent the previous Sunday and encouraging him to be sure to attend Rally Day on the 19th.

(I have shared several postcards related to Rally Day, a formal celebration in many Protestant Churches to inaugurate the new Sunday School year, introduce teachers, form classes, etc.  In many congregations there was a special service, a fellowship meal, and planned activities.)

The postcard was mailed from Lancaster on September 16, and features (on the face) a parade of youth’s holding flags that spell “Rally Day”.

One hopes that George was able to attend the special celebration.
