“Having a H___ of a Time” – Reno, Nevada (circa 1910)

Mrs. Fred Boryer lived in Reno, the city in the Truckee River Valley in northwest Nevada.

Fred, Mrs. Broyer’s husband, husband seems to have taken a trip.

Sometime around 1910, Fred, he mailed a postcard to his wife.

The face of the postcard shows an exuberant couple, surrounded by bottles of wine, striking a carefree pose.

The gilded inscription reads, “We’re having a h___ of a time”.

Because the postmark is frustratingly indistinct, I cannot determine the place from which the postcard was mailed -It may be Sacramento, California.

On the reverse, Fred indicates that he will be home on Tuesday night.

The postcard photograph was copyrighted by A. L. Simpson in 1909, and was probably sent soon thereafter.

A quick internet search reveals more than one Fred Boryer, but none that can be placed near Reno.

(The surname is more common in England, Canada, and Australia.)

One hopes that Mrs. Boryer was not worried about her husband’s conduct, but was amused by the comic postcard.
