Mr. Evan Dressel lived in Elton, now a neighborhood within the village of Navarre, Ohio.
Located in southwest Stark County, about 16 miles southwest of Canton, Elton had a post office only from 1883-1902.
Navarre had prosperous mills and a population in 1910 of more than 1300 people.

In December of 1908, Evan received a comic postcard from Bill.
Bill mailed the postcard from New Springfield, an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Mahoning County of northeast Ohio.

The face of the postcard is a photograph of a young father holding a bucket while three children are clinging awkwardly to him.
One child is on his back (with hands around his neck); one is held upright in his right arm; one is slipping away from his left arm.
It is not clear if the father is attempting to clean the room or the children – I could not decide if the object in his hand is a mop.
A side table and two chairs are behind the man, and two framed pictures hang on the wall.
The printed title, “holding three of a kind” is a humorous reference to one’s hand in a game of cards.

The postcard was published by Bamforth & Co. of Holmfirth England and of New York.
We have seen a half-dozen other light-hearted postcards by this company.
This postcard was “Printed in Germany”.

Although there is place for a written message on the reverse, Bill has inscribed only his name upon the margin of the face.
It is not clear if the humorous scene applies to Bill or to Evan.
I have not performed any genealogical research to discover if one of the correspondents had children or was about to have offspring.
One hopes that each enjoyed a happy experience of marriage and fatherhood, and that they remained correspondents for many years.
