In February of 1938, Ida Eckert was in Sebring, Florida.
Sebring is a small city which was built during the boom in Florida development during the early 20th century.
The well-preserved town was built around Lake Jackson in south-central Florida.

From Sebring, Ida mailed a postcard to her friend, Miss Alvena Bechtel.
Alvena lived in Ephrata, the charming town in Lancaster County of southeast Pennsylvania.

The face of the postcard is a photograph of a park on the shores of Lake Jackson.

At least one bench rests beside the low hedges and decorative bushes.
A small pier, for canoes or small boats, extends into the lake.
From the trees, wispy strands of Spanish Moss are hand-drawn on the face.
The postcard image was first made and published by W. A. Kugler of Sebring.
On the reverse, Ida asks, “How would you like to sit in this little park.”
Ida finds it, “very pretty”.
The message concludes with Ida’s wish, “Hope you are all fine up there”.
One hopes that Alvena was glad to receive the postcard, that she did not envy her friend’s winter vacation in the sun, and that the two remained friends and correspondents for many years.
