“Kiss and Make Up” – circa 1910

This comic postcard was not mailed, so we do not know if the message was intended for a particular person.

It is an example of the many light-hearted postcards related to courtship or romance that were exchanged a century ago.

In the illustration, the behavior of two couples is contrasted: one couple stands awkwardly together at the edge of the haystack, the other couple nestles on the hay together.

The legend, “Kiss and Make Up” suggests that the cuddling, romantic couple has chosen the right path.

One wonders how much canoodling went on amid the ubiquitous haystacks on farms in the early 20th century!
