Bertha Crawford lived in Trevorton, a “census-designated place” in Northumberland County of east-central Pennsylvania.

In January of 1909, Bertha received a postcard from her friend, Maude Gottshall.
(I cannot decipher the PA place from which the postcard was mailed.)
The face of the postcard has no printed greeting, but bears a lovely drawing of flowers, pink and blue.
On the reverse, Maude writes only, “From your friend…”
We cannot know if Bertha had a birthday in January, if Maude was still sending greetings for the New Year, or if some special purpose inspired the sending of the postcard.
It is a charming thing, and one hopes that Bertha was pleased by it.
