Miss Herr Gives Thanksgiving Greetings to John K. Hershey – circa 1915

The Thanksgiving postcard was far more common in the early twentieth century than it is today.

Many postcard greetings, some blending patriotic and harvest images, were exchanged at that time.

This Thanksgiving card was not mailed; it was, presumably, presented by Miss Herr to John K. Hershey.

I assume that Miss Herr was a schoolteacher or Sunday School teacher.

The face of the postcard bears an illustration of a fire in the hearth and the inscription, “Let Us be Thankful for the Bounteous Gifts from the Giver of all Good”.

Above the cozy fire is a bunch of asters or other Fall flower (chrysanthemums?).

The card was printed, I believe, about the time of the first World War, circa 1915.
