Mr. William Haurey lived in Elizabeth, the historic city that became an industrial powerhouse of northeast New Jersey.

In December of 1915, Mrs. Haurey received a New Year greeting from a neighbor – Mrs. Matthews.
Mrs. Matthews mailed the postcard from Elizabeth, suggesting that she was a friend who lived nearby.
The face of the postcard is a printed inscription within a frame that is decorated with mistletoe, bells, and four-leaf clovers.
The printed inscription reads: “A Happy New Year be Yours”
The postcard was printed in the USA, although I cannot discern a printer’s mark.
On the reverse, Mrs. Matthews writes, “New Years Greetings”, and signs her name.
That the postcard was preserved in good condition for more than a century suggests that Mrs. Haurey kept it throughout her life.
One hopes that the neighbors and friends remained correspondents for many years.
