Over-eating at Thanksgiving – Media, PA (1914)

Miss E. Garner lived in Media, PA, a borough 13 miles west of Philadelphia and the County Seat of Delaware County.

In November of 1914, Miss Garner received a postcard from her cousin, William Wood.

The postcard, mailed from Philadelphia, features two children seated near a table.

A girl sits on a stool; an older boy is perched on a chair.

The boy clutches his mid-section as though he has a stomach ache.

The legend reads, “I don’t care, that turkey was good while I was eating it.”

One hopes that Miss Garner and her cousin, William Wood, were not indisposed by over-eating at the Thanksgiving feast.
