Ralph Gives a Postcard to His Classmate – circa 1920
Ralph K.G. and Norman Heck were classmates at school near Ephrata.
Sometime around 1920, Ralph gave Norman a postcard. *
The postcard featured a picture of sailboats on the water.
The postcard was not mailed, which suggests it was delivered in person.
Norman appears to have pasted the postcard into an album, a common practice of postcard collectors in the early 20th century.
The album may have helped preserve the card for more than a hundred years.
(This postcard lacks some distinctive marks that would enable it to be dated more precisely. It is possible the card was printed as much as ten years later.)
