Camden is a village in southwest Ohio.
The community was laid out in 1818 and had two other names before becoming “Camden” in 1835.
In 1910, there were almost 900 residents of the community.
Today, Camden lies within the Dayton Metropolitan statistical Area and is overshadowed by that city.

Sometime in the early 20th century, a photograph of West Central Avenue was printed on postcards.
The publisher (and, presumably, the printer) was J. W. Gowdy.
The lack of an identified address of the publisher suggests that Mr. Gowdy was a local entrepreneur, perhaps a printer.
(In many small towns, shopkeepers or other businessmen often established a business in publishing photographs of local scenes.)
The avenue is bordered by trees and has sidewalks, but the roadway appears to be unpaved.
It is a quiet and inviting scene.
