The Girls’ Outing –  York County, PA (circa 1910)

Sometime in the very early twentieth century, a group of young women celebrated their outdoor picnic by making a picture postcard.

The picture is not clear enough to discern what each one is holding, but there is a large basket in their midst.

It seems that several gifts are being presented.

It is possible that this is a bridal shower.

The postcard was made by the Penn Park Studio, located on West College Avenue in the city of York.

The members of this merry group seem to be enjoying one another and their al fresco adventure.

One is wearing a remarkable hat.

Unfortunately, there are no clues that would help us identify the picnickers or their location.
