Mrs. David Neely lived in Newport, a borough on the Juniata River in Perry County of central Pennsylvania.
The name of the borough relates to its history on the Pennsylvania Canal.

In April of 1908, Mrs. Neely received an Easter postcard from Alice.
Alice mailed the greeting from Steelton, then a significant industrial city on the banks of the Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania.

The face of the postcard is a soft image of a large green egg surrounded by blue flowers.
The egg is larger than that of a chicken; it resembles the egg of a goose or other fowl.
On the egg is the Easter proclamation, “The Lord is Risen”.
On the reverse, Alice has written only her name.
We do not now how the correspondents are related or connected.
One hopes that Mrs. Neely was pleased by the postcard and that she and Alice enjoyed a wonderful Easter.
