Miss Anna Simpson lived in Sellersburg, a town in Clark County of southeast Indiana – only 15 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.

Sometime around 1910, Anna was given a Valentine postcard.
The face of the postcard is an elaborate design upon a background of lace.
In the center, a blue ribbon (tied into a bow) surrounds a medallion drawing of a winged cupid.
The cupid holds a scroll on which the Valentine message is printed:
“This bow of blue / I send to you
To tell you Love / That I am true
So keep it do.”
Pansies of various colors are arranged around the medallion.
The fine artwork is not credited to an artist, nor could I discern a publisher’s logo.
There is a printed identification of the postcard as one of the “Heart Valentine Series no. 2.”
The postcard was not mailed, the written message on the reverse indicates the postcard was “from Mamie” or “Mannie”.
There is some mystery about this, however, as the message also says, “to Annie” and the name, “Myrtle S.” is attached.
A preliminary search of genealogical sites did not reveal any plausible connections of these names, although there are various Simpsons across Indiana with names of Anne, Annie, Anna, Myrtle and Mannie.
Miss Simpson appears to have heeded the cupid’s message as she did “keep” the lovely postcard throughout her life.
One hopes that all the persons attached to the postcard enjoyed a measure of love and romance in their lives of the early 20th century,
