“A Happy Easter to Margaret” – 1913

On March 23, 1913, Margaret was given an Easter postcard by Aunt Lizzie.

The postcard, made in Germany, features a girl (with feathered bonnet slung back on her shoulders, attempting to tie a bonnet on a large chicken.

The embossed card is richly-colored – the pigment is so heavily applied that it is flaking.

(I made many small, digital repairs to the face.)

The postcard was published by an international company, hitherto unknown to me – Gottschalk, Dreyfus, & Davis of London, Munich, and New York.

Because the postcard was not mailed, we know very little about Margaret and Aunt Lizzie.

One hopes that they, and all who celebrate the holy day, had a blessed Easter.
