Blossoms of Spring – Mount Vernon, Ohio (circa 1910)

Grace Diehl lived in Mount Vernon, a city along the Kokosing River of central Ohio.

Mount Vernon is 40 miles northeast of Columbus.

Sometime around 1910, Grace was given a beautiful example of postcard art.

The face of the postcard shows a young woman in billowing garments assembling a large bouquet of Spring flowers.

The artist signature is difficult to read; it may be H. A. Weis.

The charming greeting was presented by Edith P., who may have lived nearby.

We can imagine that Edith was a neighbor, classmate, or friend.

Because the postcard was not mailed, it is difficult to assign a precise date on which Grace received it.

It seems that Grace treasured the postcard as it was preserved in good condition for more than a century.

The writing on the reverse had faded severely, which accounts for the high resolution of the image.
