Mr. Volgarth Christensen was living in Akron – a growing industrial center in north east Ohio.
In March of 1911, he celebrated his birthday.
Volgarth received a Birthday postcard from Mrs. Dressler, also of Akron.
The face of the postcard bears a medallion drawing of a peaceful shore, surrounded by embossed daisies and small white flowers.
“A Happy Birthday” is inscribed beneath the drawing.
On the reverse, Mrs. Dressler sends, “Best Wishes for your birthday”.
Volgarth was born in Denmark in 1893, he would have been a young man of 18 when he celebrated this birthday.
In 1940, when he was 47 years old, he was still living in Akron with his wife, Bertha, and son, Delmar.
The family spoke English.
I cannot find the year in which he emigrated to the United States.
One hopes that he prospered and found happiness in his life.
