“In Dreamland” – circa 1908

We have seen a variety of romantic postcards – some are earnest, some declarative, many are humorous, some bear a warning.

This postcard shows the peaceful happiness that lovers find in one another’s company.

Here, a young man and a young woman are seated on the grass in a park or garden.

A rustic bench is behind them; they have chosen to cuddle on the ground.

Like most courting couples in postcard stories, these figures are well-dressed.

The woman is wearing a lovely peach-colored dress; the young man wears a suit adorned with a red tie (which hangs from his highly-starched collar).

The woman reclines easily against the man, her arm draped languidly over the seat of the bench.

Beside them, we see the straw “boater” of the man and the magnificent, feathered hat of the woman.

The caption to this lovely scene I printed as, “In Dreamland”.

The postcard was copyright and published by S. K. Simon in a year near 1908.

Alas, the postcard was never mailed.

Perhaps a young lover had hoped to share the postcard, but never had an occasion to do so.

It may have been in the possession of multiple people over the last century, as the postcard shows some signs of wear.

I made some digital repairs to the face.
