Lucy Nelson

Lucy Nelson is “Doing OK” in Lincoln, Nebraska- circa 1910

Sometime around 1910, Lucy Nelson mailed a postcard photograph to her brother and his wife (?) in Marion, Iowa.

In the photograph, Lucy sports an elaborate, feathered hat.

Lucy was in Lincoln, Nebraska, and seems to have had temporary lodging as she used a “General Delivery” postal address.

On the reverse of the photograph, Lucy writes that she is doing ok, but shares her concern that George is sick.

The photograph lacks a studio mark, but I imagine that the portrait was made in Lincoln.

The postcard was not mailed (the stamp is not cancelled); it may have been enclosed with a letter.

I hope that Lucy succeeded in whatever business or pursuit led her to Lincoln; she appears to be a capable and confident young woman.
