Lydia Livingston of Gap
At an antique mall near Strasburg, I found an old photograph from the Saylor Studio of Lancaster.
The reverse of the photograph bears a pencilled inscription:
“My aunt
Lydia Livingston
Gap”
An internet search reveals that several families of Livingstons lived and farmed near Gap; I was unable to find Lydia.
Additionally, studio portraits like these are harder to date than the carte de visite style of photograph.
Thus, it is plausible, but still conjectural, that Lydia Livingston traveled to Lancaster from Gap and had her photograph made at the Saylor Studio sometime in the early 20th century.
