Miss Mae Adams lived in Macon, a city on the Ocmulgee River in central Georgia.

In November of 1907, Mae received a postcard from her friend, G.
G. was in Atlanta, the capital city and the commercial, transportation, and cultural hub of the region.

The face of the postcard is a drawing of a finely-dressed couple within a park or formal garden.
The pair seems to have stopped at a rustic structure, perhaps a desk.
It would be a very tall bench, although the gentleman is perched upon it.
At first glance, I thought that the young lovers were reading together, as there appear to be books beside them.
However, it is unclear if this is the case.
They could be looking at a picture or even a mirror.
If it was a contemporary postcard, they would be taking a “selfie”.
On the reverse, we learn that G. communicates regularly with Mae – a letter was sent yesterday, and the postcard today.
Unfortunately, G. does not seem happy with this trip, if this is a reference to Atlanta – “I am not pleased with Ata (sic)…”
G. tells Mae that a letter is expected soon.
One hopes that Mae responded promptly to the postcard and letter from G., and that the two remained friends and correspondents for many years.
