Oscar Sends a Pair of Lovers to Annie – Bismarck, North Dakota (1911)

We met Annie Robidou in earlier postcard stories; Annie inspired or collected many postcard illustrations related to courtship or love.

In January of 1911, Annie received a postcard from Oscar, also of Bismarck.

The face of the postcard bears a photograph of a couple warmly embracing and kissing.

The legend reads, “Cuddle up a little closer in the future”.

On the reverse, Oscar acknowledges receipt of a postcard from Annie that he had been expecting for some time.

Despite its tardiness, the postcard pleased Oscar greatly – he found it humorous and daring.

It seems that Oscar had visited the home of Annie’s sister, and was planning to “drop in” on Annie when he “got to town”.

One hopes that Annie enjoyed this addition to her large postcard collection, and that Oscar remained a friend and correspondent for many years.
