Studio Portrait of Children – Reading, PA (circa 1910)

Last year, I found and posted a photographic portrait of a young man that was made by the Fritz Studio in Reading, PA.

In 1910, Reading was a prosperous and growing city – a center of industry and home of the vast Reading Railroad.

Recently, I found (at another antique dealer) this photographic portrait of two children, also from the Fritz Studio.

At the time this portrait was made, the Fritz Studio was at 852 Penn Street.

Postcard photos became very popular in the early years of the 20th century; many studio portraits were printed on postcards for easy sharing with friends and family members.

This postcard was not mailed and does not bear a date.

I assume that the boys are brothers; one appears slightly older than the other.

My sympathies extend to the poor boy who wears a large bow at his neck; I would feel like a wrapped gift.
