The Group of Scholars – 1912

“A normal school is an institution created to train high school graduates to be teachers by educating them in the norms of pedagogy and curriculum.,,”(Wiki)

In the summer of 1912, students of a Normal School gathered for a class photo.

The memento was printed as a postcard photograph, so it could be shared easily with friends and family members.

It was nice to find that that an inscription on the reverse recorded the date and the nature of the gathering.

Alas, we cannot know where this picture was taken.

The postcard was found within a lot of old paper in Adamstown, Pennsylvania.

Millersville University would be nearby (it was founded as a Normal School),  but there were dozens of other schools elsewhere in Pennsylvania and in nearby states.
